Standard Bridle Sizing Chart:

Browband: Measured from the end of each loop, straight across. Even if the style is curved. Standard browband loops are approximately 3cm wide.

Noseband: Measured as a circumference.

Headpiece: Measure from bit, to bit, over the top of the horse's head.

Bitless Bridle Sizing Chart:

Headpiece: Measure from ring to ring (where reins attach), over the top of the horse's head.

Noseband: Measured as inner circumference.

Throat lash: Measured from where the strap attaches to the cheek piece on each size.

Browband: Measured from the end of each loop, straight across. Even if the style is curved. Standard browband loops are approximately 3cm wide.

How do you measure your breastplate?

The measurements below are from the middle hole, with 2-3 holes on either side. They are also measured to the end of each loop. It is recommended you use chalk to jot out the shape of your breastplate prior to measurement.

Dropped nosebands are commonly used in dressage, showjumping, and eventing. They are often favoured for horses that require added control and to help maintain consistent contact with the horse’s mouth.

How is a dropped noseband different from a Hanoverian or cavesson noseband?

A dropped noseband differs from a flash or cavesson noseband primarily in placement and function:

Dropped Noseband: Sits lower on the nose, roughly halfway between the cheekbones and nostrils, and secures the mouth by encircling the nose and jaw. It provides subtle control without extra attachments.
Cavesson Noseband: A traditional design that sits just below the cheekbones. It is unrestrictive and offers an elegant look.
Hanoverian Noseband: Combines a cavesson with an additional lower strap (flash) to prevent the horse from opening its mouth and to keep the bit steady.
